Death and Dying

Sorry for the depressing subject matter today but my 92 year old DMIL is dying of cancer and I thought writing about it might help me deal. The people in my life that have died always went fast, heart attack, stroke, accident, etc. I have never known anyone to die slowly like this. This is so agonizing for the family. She is very bad her extremities are turning purple, she sleeps all the time moaning in her sleep. It upsets me that she's suffering like this even though hospice assures us she's in no pain. We lived in Spain when my mother went through this with my step-father and her sister. I never realized how hard it must have been on her to watch them go like this. And I can't imagine the agony of parents who have children that die like this. I think I would surely break under such grief.

My heart goes out to your and your family. It's not easy watching someone go through the stages of cancer.
I am so sorry about your DMIL, it's always hard to say goodbye. I pray the God gives you and your family the strength to deal with all you are dealing with, to stay strong.
Sometimes talking about things help, and I hope my small words bring comfort to you and also just knowing I care.
Lots of ((((Hugs)))) to you all.

So sorry you are going through this. Hospice is a big help. My MIL had a more prolonged exit out of this world, and my husband and I helped care for her. My own mother, on the other hand, died suddenly and unexpectedly in the middle of her daily afternoon nap. It was a shock for all of us left behind but a blessing that she didn't suffer. Just give yourselves extra hugs and support to get through this, there is no easy remedy other than to grieve.

I wish death was always quick and easy. It is so hard on everyone when it isn't, but Hospice is wonderful in these situations. My prayers are with you during this time. I am sending you lots of hugs!

There is nothing anyone can say to help you thru this pain you are feeling. And there is nothing more difficult than to watch someone you love slowly decline. I never realized just how much it was affecting me either, until my father finally passed. I was thankful though, that i was able to see him and spend one last Christmas with him before he died...a chance many people arent given when someone dies suddenly. Hospice is absolutely wonderful and will make sure your DMIL is getting the best care and comfort possible. I am truly sorry for the pain you and your family are experiencing, but you can take comfort in knowing that your DMIL led a full life surrounded by those who love her. My deepest sympathies to you and your~

Slow deaths are very difficult to deal with, you certainly have my sympathies. I was there helping as two of my grandparents and my mother passed away, all at home.

Thanks for being a faithful visitor to Country Captures, I hope my photographs help you in some small way to get through your difficult days.
