Row Robin 2008

Here's Patty's Row Robin I've been working on this month. Love Patty's choice of theme and colors. Thinking of making one like it for myself. Click on pic's for larger image.

Out of the House!

Between remodeling and illness I've hardly been out of the house the last two months. So yesterday I hit the street running for a fun day of shopping. Went to a sewing shop for an assortment cone thread since it's recommended for use with the Gracie. The Cracker Barrel looking for potholders didn't find any but their Easter stuff was 50% off couldn't resit this darling Bunnie.(click on image for better view) I'm going to set on the back porch next to a pot of impatiens this summer. Then on to Bed Bath and Beyond for some potholders and a new no stick pan for fried chicken. Next the LQS for paper piecing paper, they were out have to go back next week. Finally the meat market and home for a nap. Was really tired still fighting this infection I guess.

Sick and tired of being sick and tired!

I've been sick off and on all month. Finally the Dr. decided maybe I'm not imagining it. Took blood test and said "You have an infection."
Ya think!

Well anyway here are two quilt tops (click on pic's to enlarge) that were found when they cleaned out my DMIL's house. I'm pretty sure they were made in the 1930's. Now I'm trying to decide should I machine quilt them or hand quilt, Hand quilting would compliment the original 30's fabrics. But.... would take a very long time. Need some input here .What would you do?

Old Photo

My DSIL sent me this photo they found in my late MIL's home. No info on it so we have no idea who anyone is. I'm curious about the uniform clothing and each little girl is holding a broom(click on pic for better view). I wonder if it could be an early group of Girl Scouts, 4H, Campfire Girls or something similar. Anyone have any ideas?

Sicko

I haven't felt well this week so haven't been on the computer for a while. So I'm behind reading every one's blogs.
Today's my birthday. Never mind which one:) We were going to take the kids to the Outback for Dinner. But I'm not up to it yet so it will be postponed until next week.
But on the up side it's 50 degrees here and the snow has melted. Ya!

We're a family of dog lovers . Here's picture of my grandsons new baby Husky. Isn't she adorable?

More Snow, sigh...

Still with the snow. I was hoping to get out today since I've been trapped in the house all week with the door and window replacement. But alas it is not to be... we got snow. I wanted to post a pic of my sewing room window but the camera battery died right after I took this picture of Buddy lounging in my chair. Is he too cool for school or what? I like the way his little front leg is resting on the arm rest. He's my boy.

New Door in Yipee!

Finally my Atuim door is in . Yippee! I guess I got spoiled by the timely way the other work we had done this winter went. Everything else was completed within ten days of ordering it. I had to wait a month for this door but WOW! It sure was worth the wait, it's a beautiful door. Click on the photo for a better view.
As you can see the installers trash and tools are still out on the Sun Porch . Speaking of which is my next project to redecorate. I'm thinking kinda English Cottage style. Keeping the white wicker but painting the room a pale yellow, or vanilla color and add a lot of pillows in flowery pastels, pinks, yellows, greens. HELP ! I need some suggestions here.
Oh almost forgot the other pic is what my sewing room looks like right now. They replacing the drafty old window in there today . So I shoved everything to one side and covered it with blankets and sheets to keep the dust off. Picture of my new window coming tomorrow.

Scrap Booking ,Blah...

OK,OK, all you scrapbookers (is that a word?) don't take offence.I love looking at scrap books and have seen some real cute and creative ones. BUT... I just can't get interested in doing it. I have shoe boxs full of pictures I can't even get motivated to stick in alblums. A couple years ago I bought a bunch of photo alblums , had DH bring all the boxs of pictures into the dining room and swore I spend an hour a day working on them until they were all in the alblums. First week I started sorted pictures by decades,50, 60's 70,etc. That was it. They sat in the dinning room for a few weeks .I decided it was just too big of commitment and put them back in a closet.

I have a DDIL who loves to scrap book .I thought of asking her help offering her the pick of the litter of family photos. But then thought "alas" I would have to go over all them with her so she'd know who they were. Forget it, I have sewing/quilting to do.

In case your wondering what prompted this rant ,well Feb. 9th or 10th is/was my mom's birthday. She thought she was born Feb9, 1914. until she needed a copy of her birth certificate. They had her birthday recorded as Feb 10,1914. Assuming grandma Knutson should know what day her daughter was born (one tends to remember the day they pushed another human being out of their body) we think the 9th is probably right. She was born at home and we're thinking by the time the Country Dr. got around to recording it some how there was a mistake. Anyway back to the subject at hand. I wanted to post a picture of mom on my blog but wanted a good one(she would turn in her grave if it wasn't ) DDIL Cheri's B-day is in Feb too but alas after the remodeling in the den I am so disorganized I can't find some pictures . And since ddil wasn't too happy with the Christmas picture I posted I thought I owed her a good one. So.... the Feb. b-day people will be posted with the Mar. b-day people when I get things sorted out. "Sigh"
